A bicyclist riding along Pacific Coast Highway Thursday night in Huntington Beach was fatally injured in a traffic collision.

According to Jennifer Carey, public information officer, the incident took place around 11:20 p.m. on PCH north of Seapoint Street.  The cyclist, a 52-year-old man, was found dead in the roadway.

The driver of the red 2010 Lexus that collided with the bicycle, a 79-year-old man – and his wife – sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital. The drivers and passenger cooperated with police, and drug or alcohol do not appear to have figured in the accident.

Investigators believe the Lexus was traveling northbound on PCH and struck the bicyclist, who was in the roadway north of Seapoint Street. Witnesses to the accident or the events leading up to it are asked to contact HBPD Traffic Investigator Doug Demetre at (714) 536-5670 or Investigator Vishal Rattanchandani at (714) 536-5231.
