Final approval of an ordinance raising the compensation for the mayor and city councilmembers will go before the Garden Grove City Council when it meets on Tuesday.
The council is expected to adopt the ordinance, which was approved for first reading on Jan. 25. Under the ordinance, council members would receive $1,312.34 per month, up from the current pay of $486.05. The mayor would receive an additional $200 per month. The expected effective date is Jan. 1, 2023.
At present, Garden Grove’s council and mayor are among the lowest-paid in Orange County.
Also on the agenda are a second public hearing on the process of redistricting council seats in the wake of the 2020 census and awarding of a contract worth $1,276,196 to Elecnor Belco Electric, Inc for traffic signal installation and modifications.
The meeting will be held via teleconference at 6:30 p.m. Members of the public wishing to comment may attend in-person in the Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Ave.
