Good news across the board

All four major measurements of the coronavirus pandemic in Orange County showed improvement in Tuesday’s report from the county health care agency.

According to the OCHCA, confirmed new cases declined from the three-day average of 355.5 on Monday to 281 on Tuesday. Deaths dropped from 10.3 (also a three-day average) to seven.

Hospitalizations went from 179 to 166 and the number of patients being treated in intensive care units for COVID-19 fell from 37 to 28.

To date, Orange County has had 541,463 cases of coronavirus, of which 526,230 are considered recovered. The death total is 6,690.

Nationally, The New York Times is reporting that – over a 14-day period – new cases have declined by 51 percent and deaths are down by 30 percent. In California, Los Angeles Times reports that new cases are down 45 percent but deaths have risen by 36 percent.
