A rally in support of the people of Ukraine and against the Russian invasion drew a crowd to the patio at the front of the Stanton Civic Center on Saturday afternoon.

Dozens of people attended and heard speakers from various faith communities, from public officeholders and political candidates.

Stanton Mayor David Shawver served as host and highlights of the event included not only remarks by a variety of speakers, but also singing of “The Star Spangled Banner” and “Chevrona Ruta” (Red Rue) a traditional Ukrainian song.

The national anthem of Ukraine was sung by 7-year-old Amelia Anisobych.
