“We must not humiliate Russia”

French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday urged Western allies to seek a negotiated end to the war between Russia and Ukraine.

According to The New York Times, he said, “We must not humiliate Russia so that when the fighting stops we can build an exit ramp through diplomatic means.”

Macron’s remarks were rejected by the Ukrainian government, vowing not to cede any of its land to the invader. As the fighting continues, Ukraine’s armed forces said they had reclaimed part of the key city of Severodonetsk, according to United Press International.

If those successes hold, it would mean that the defenders now hold half of the city, which just days ago looked like a victory for the Russians.

Sports: Angels drop 10th straight

One of the worst slumps in team history continued on Saturday as the Los Angeles Angels lost 7-2 to the Philadelphia Phillies. It was their 10th loss in a row and evened their record at 27-27.

The Phils scored five runs in the first inning off starter Michael Lorenzen for all the offense they would need. Also in an epic slump. Mike Trout struck out five times and is 0-23 at the plate.

Hoping to snap the streak, the Angels will play the Phillies again on Sunday with Patrick Sandoval (3-1) getting the start for Orange County team.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are hosting the New York Mets and trail the visitors 6-4 in the sixth inning. Check back for the final results.
