George Tindall, who served as Garden Grove’s city manager for 16 years, has died.
According to the city, Tindall was Garden Grove’s top appointed official from 1988 to 2004, and was assistant city manager and public works director before that.
He is credited with the transition of Harbor Boulevard toward a major hotel and restaurant district, which brings in millions of dollars annually to city coffers.
Additionally, he worked to expand the city’s auto center and helped launch the “Renaissance Garden Grove” program to promote the changes and improvements in the “City of Youth and Ambition.”
The June 28 meeting of the city council will be adjourned in memory of Tindall.
