Over 350,00 residents of the Donestk province in eastern Ukraine were urged Tuesday to flee as Russian forces pressed their attacks.
According to The Associated Press, Gov. Tavlo Kyrlenko was asking civilians to evacuate the area in order to save lives and simplify the defense of the region by the Ukrainian military.
“The destiny of the whole country will be decided by the Donetsk region,” he said.
On another front, The New York Times reports that the Ukrainian military has said it had used a U.S.-supplied rocket artillery weapon to strike an ammunition depot about 40 miles behind Russian lines.
The weapon is called the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System or HIMARS.
