Orange High’s football team withstood a late charge from Loyola High Friday night to post a 38-35 victory in the CIF-SS Division 6 semifinals and advance to the title game next week.

Western fell behind early and rallied late but it wasn’t enough to avoid a 45-33 loss to Laguna Hills in a Division 7 semifinal Friday.

The Panthers were led by Hype Grand, who passed for one touchdown and ran for two more, along with a two-point conversion.

What proved to be the winning score was a 40-yard TD run by Ardwon Morris with three minutes to play in the game. It was his second scoring run of the game.

Orange (11-2) will now face San Jacinto (11-2) in the Division 6 championship game.

In its game, Western (10-2) trailed 45-14 early in the fourth quarter but scored three late TDs to close most – but not all – of the gap.

Anthony Luna passed for three touchdowns for the Pioneers.

The winning Laguna Hills Hawks will play for the D-7 title next week against Golden Valley (9-4) of Santa Clarita.
