A 3-YEAR-OLD girl was fatally injured in Westminster Friday night when struck by a car. The driver was arrested for vehicular manslaughter (Shutterstock).
A 26-year-old Westminster man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 3-year-old girl in a car vs. pedestrian accident Friday night.
According to Commander Kevin MacCormick of the WPD, officers were dispatched to the area of Goldenwest Street and 21st Street at 6:30 p.m. in response to a report of a collision.
Arriving officers found the girl, who had been hit by a vehicle. They rendered medical aid until Orange County Fire Authority paramedics arrived and transported the child to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County where she died of her injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, Bautista Decastilla, voluntarily came to the WPD for an evaluation and to speak to investigators. He was later arrested and booked into Orange County Jail on charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving without a driver’s license.
It doesn’t appear that drugs or alcohol are a factor. Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call Sgt. Anil Adam of the WPD Traffic Division at (714) 548-3770.

Where was the parent or guardian of the child when this accident happened? And if the guardian was with her when the accident happened why was she the only one to get hurt let alone die from the situation? If i was in the same situation i would push the stroller as fast and as far as i could to make sure the child is unscathed
You have no idea what in the world you are talking about. It’s a whole different story when a car comes barreling through a crosswalk out of no where. Almost hits another one of your children, hits and DRAGS your baby girl. The mother is injured…. Bruised from diving at her daughter in an attempt to try and save her daughter. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.
Someone explain to me how this man can be speeding while driving around without a valid license, blow through a crosswalk, hit and kill a baby while almost killing other members of her family, and only be charged with a f*ucking MISDEMEANOR!? WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUR LEGAL SYSTEM!?
