The Garden Grove League boys’ basketball race is crowded at the top.

With Loara’s 70-34 win over Rancho Alamitos and Santiago’s 72-41 triumph over Los Amigos on Friday, three teams are tied for first with 3-1 records: Rancho, Santiago and Loara.

A game that might help break the logjam a little is on Wednesday night when Santiago visits Rancho Alamitos.

On the girls’ side of the GGL, Santiago remained atop the league at 4-0 with  45-36 win over Los Amigos. La Quinta and Los Amigos are a game behind at 3-1.

The tough Wave League is just getting started this week and Edison is in first at 2-0 after defeating Los Alamitos 42-33.

Every team there has a winning record: Edison is 14-7, Los Al is 15-6, Fountain Valley and Marina are each 14-7.

In the Empire League, a good Pacifica boys’ team (11-9) fell into a tie for third after a 63-45 loss to Crean Lutheran.
