COVID-19 spike followed by fall

The big jump in new cases of coronavirus in Orange County last week was followed by a big slump this week.

According to the county health agency, the number of confirmed new cases though Wednesday, June 28 was 428, a steep drop from 2,522 for the week before. That number was a large increase from 304 reported on June 14.

The total of deaths ascribed to COVID-19 was 10 this week, compared to nine last week and 12 the week before.

To date, the number of coronavirus deaths in Orange County is counted as 8,225. The total number of cases is 725,796.
