New cases double in month

NEW CORONAVIRUS cases in Orange County have doubled in a month (Shutterstock).

The number of confirmed new cases of coronavirus in Orange County has doubled in a month, according to the latest figures.

One thousand, two hundred fifty-eight cases of the COVID 19 were reported for the weekly period concluding on Wednesday, Aug. 23.

According to the Orange County Health Care Agency, this week’s count of cases compares to 1,007 on Aug. 16, then 796 on Aug. 9; 708 on Aug. 2 and 613 on July 26.

The number of deaths rose to nine, compared to four the week before.

To date, Orange County has had 731,599 cases and 8,274 deaths.

Anaheim has the highest total of deaths, with 1,289. Santa Ana is second with 1,192. For our West Orange County cities, Garden Grove has had 614 deaths, Huntington Beach has had 416, Westminster 334 and Stanton 99.
