
PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOLS in the West Orange County area got good grades from US News & World Report (Shutterstock).
Five public high schools in our West Orange County area scored at 90 percent and above in U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking released that week.
La Quinta High School, in Westminster and part of the Garden Grove Unified School District, scored 97.13 percent and was ranked 79th in the state and 507th in the U.S.
The rankings are based on a variety of criteria including graduation rates, the percentage of students who have taken or passed at least one Advanced Placement exam, as well as proficiency in math, science and reading.
Pacifica High School in Garden Grove (also in the GGUSD) scored at 92.94, followed by Garden Grove High (GGUSD) 92.87, Bolsa Grande High (GGUSD) at 91.49 and Huntington Beach High (Huntington Beach Union High School District) at 90.17.
Following are Westminster High (HBUHSD) at 89.86,Edison High (HBUHSD) at 88.89, Marina (HBUHSD) at 86.22 and Santiago (GGUSD) at 87.55.
Also scoring at 80 percent or better was Rancho Alamitos (GGUSD) at 84.04.
