A 46-year-old Huntington Beach man was fatally injured while walking along Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach  on Sunday night.

According to Jessica Cuchilla, public information officer for the HBPD, the incident took place at around 10 p.m. on Beach Boulevard north of Speer Drive.

Arriving officers found the man in the roadway. He was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The driver of a grey 2003 Lincoln Navigator, a 33-year-old Huntington Beach woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. Impairment from drugs or alcohol didn’t appear to be a factor with the driver.

The preliminary investigation indicated that the Navigator was traveling southbound on Beach Boulevard and in the far right lane and struck the pedestrian north of Speer Drive.
