A MAN was fatally shot in Garden Grove early Thursday afternoon (Shutterstock).

A man was fatally shot Thursday afternoon in Garden Grove.

According to Detective Sgt. Mark Lord, the incident took place in the area of the 10000 block of Katella Ave. (west of Brookhurst Street) and was reported at 2:50 p.m.

Officers were dispatched in reference a call about a man lying on the sidewalk. Police found he had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to an area hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.

A second person was found uninjured in the area.

Investigation indicated that an altercation had occurred between the two people. He is cooperating with police and was not taken into custody.
