
GANG CONNECTIONS are suspected in the fatal shooting of a man in Santa Ana on Thursday morning (Shutterstock).
A 35-year-old Santa Ana man was fatally shot early Thursday morning in what may be a gang-related incident.
According to the Santa Ana Police Department, the incident was reported at 12:45 a.m. concerning “several gang-type” subjects fighting at the 1000 block of W. Central Ave.
Another caller reported hearing a gunshot. Responding officers found an adult male lying on the ground from an apparent gunshot wound to his upper torso.
Orange County Fire Authority personnel treated the victim and transported him to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was identified as Edwin Medina.
Detectives are seeking to identify and locate any witnesses who can shed light on the incident. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call SAPD Homicide Section detectives at (714) 245-8390.
