A policy for reviewing library materials containing sexual content is on the agenda for Tuesday night’s meeting of the Huntington Beach City Council.

The policy would make “obscene” and “pornographic” materials in the Huntington Beach Public Library system unavailable to minors. Any material that includes sexual content must be restricted to the adult section. Parent or guardian consent would be required when checking out any book that includes sexual content by anyone under the age of 18.

Also, a community/guardian review board would be established to review all proposed or new children’s books and other materials procured by the city library that may contain sexual content.

If adopted, the policies in the resolution would be in place along with consideration of policies proposed by staff during the Oct. 17 study session.

Also on the agenda is the submission of three charter amendments ballot measures for the March 5 Statewide Primary election.

The council will meet at 6 p.m. in its chambers at 2000 Main St. (at Yorktown Avenue).
