It’s been a long time since Edison started out a football season 1-2, but the Chargers lost 27-7 to Corona del Mar (3-0) in a non-league contest on Thursday.

The green-and-gold were held to 73 yards passing and were intercepted four times. On the ground Edison netted 44 yards, led by Brett Dempsen with 36 yards on nine carries.

Sophomore Kellen Hairston got the sole Charger score, in the decisive third quarter.

Edison will seek to square that mark next Friday hosting Palos Verde (3-0) in another pre-league game.

In other Thursday football results, Bolsa Grande (now 1-2) lost 27-0 to Loara (2-1) in a Tango League opener.

Also on Thursday Garden Grove fell to 0-3 with a 21-0 loss to Westminster (2-1). The Argonauts will try to get a win next Friday against their longest rival, Rancho Alamitos (0-1).

Ocean View improved its record to 2-1 on Thursday with a 21-0 win over Buena Park (0-3). The Seahawks rushed for 365 yards, led by Dylan Morales carried 11 times for 108 yards.
