The interests of the United States and Israel may not be the same in considering a possible solution to the conflicts in the Middle East once the Hamas-Israel war is over.
On Wednesday, U.S Secretary of State Anthony Blinken suggested that the West Bank area be combined with the Gaza Strip under a unified Palestinian Authority.
Such a change could eventually lead to the “two-state solution” that would create an independent Palestinian state at peace with Israel.
However, Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu said that he expected that Israeli forces would “maintain security control over Gaza for an indefinite period,” which some observers consider a “military occupation.”
Actors’ strike is finally over
The four-month-long strike by TV and movie actors will end at midnight Wednesday (tonight) night.
The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Performers reached a three-year agreement with movie and broadcast studios.
Terms of the tentative deal – which must still be ratified by a vote of its 60,000 members – have not been made public, but during the strike the union emphasized royalty payments for movie and TV performances, working conditions and the issue of the impact of artificial intelligence on the industry.
Sports: Washington is new Angels manager
Seventy-one-year old Ron Washington, has been hired as field manager of the Los Angeles Angels, the team reported on Wednesday.
Washington managed the Texas Rangers from 2007-2014 and has a winning percentage of .521.
His teams made it to two World Series and three division championships.
