A CAR crashed into a wall at Bushard Street and Hamilton Avenue in Huntington Beach on Friday night (HBPD photo).

A car crashed into a wall at the intersection of Bushard Street and Hamilton Avenue in Huntington Beach on Friday evening, injuring the driver.

According to the HBPD, officers were dispatched to the area at 7:15 p.m. Huntington Beach Fire Department personnel were dispatched to extricate the occupants from the vehicle, which had struck a utility pole and crashed into – and partially collapsed  – a masonry wall.

Because of the severity of his injuries, the driver was airlifted to an area hospital.

Preliminary investigation by police indicates the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and the driver lost control, crashing the car into the northwest corner of the intersection.
