What police once indicated was a fatal hit-and-run traffic collision in Westminster is now being termed an “unfortunate and tragic traffic accident.”

The incident took place on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 2:04 a.m. on Beach Boulevard north of Bolsa Avenue. Arriving officers found a man – soon pronounced deceased – lying in the street. A witness told police they’d seen him struck by a vehicle which left the scene.

However, traffic investigators did interviews, examined forensic evidence and determined that it was simply a traffic accident.

Police are still interested in speaking to anyone who may have witnessed the accident. They are asked to call Investigator Stewart DeJong of the WPD Traffic Division at (714) 548-3787.
