2024 Strawberry Festival goes fishing with the Wahoo Brothers

THE WAHOO BROTHERS: Ed Lee, Wing Lam and Mingo Lee.

Fans of the popular Wahoo’s Fish Taco eateries will get a chance to see the founders of  the restaurant chain up close at the 2024 Garden Grove Strawberry Festival.

Wing Lam and Ed Lee will be the celebrity grand marshals of the festival parade, to be held on Saturday, May 25.

The festival, with the theme of “Celebrating Our Hometown,” will be at the Village Green park, located at Main and Euclid streets in the downtown area of Garden Grove.

“I am honored to be asked, along with my brother to be celebrity grand marshals,” said Ed Lee, co-owner of Wahoo’s Fish Tacos. “The festival has provided my family and community with many years of memories, and we look forward to creating many more.”

Mark Mahoney, president of the Festival Association, said of the Wahoo’s brothers that “their entrepreneurial sprit, commitment to community and the success of Wahoo’s Fish Taco make them an ideal representation of the values we hold dear.”

The first Wahoo’s Tacos was opened in Costa Mesa in 1988. The unique flavor of the tacos came from the unique heritage of the family, from China to Brazil to Baja Mexico.

Since the founding, the chain has grown to eateries all across Orange County and Southern California, as well as Colorado, Nevada (Las Vegas) and New Jersey.

The Strawberry Festival, established in 1958, is one of the largest community events in the Western United States. For more information, go to www.strawberryfestival.org .
