GARDEN GROVE HIGH won the CIF-SS Division 4AA traditional competitive cheer title (GGUSD photo).

It doesn’t snow during the winter here in our West Orange County area, but we just had a downpour of awards for local teams from the CIF-SS.

Winter all-stars (and coaches for the year) from schools serving our cities of Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Stanton and Westminster are as follows:

Traditional Competitive Cheer

• Division 1AA: Taylor Hershfield (Edison).

• Division 4A: Kaylen Tran and Annika Weber (Marina) and Lauren Murphy (Marina coach).

• Divisions 4AA: Sydney Loeff, Jillian Rosales and Han Le (Garden Grove) and Monica Ivans (Garden Grove coach).

Girls Water Polo

• Division 2: Madison Emerson (Edison).

Girls Soccer

• Division 1: Riley Crooks (Edison), Natalie Oca and Serrena Brito (Pacifica).
• Division 4: Isis Salazar (Ocean View).
• Division 5: Laila Alfadhiel and Yasmin Alfadhiel Garden Grove).

Boys Soccer

• Division 1: Luke Platt (Edison)
• Division 2: Matias Calapaqui (Huntington Beach)
• Division 4: Bryant Pineda (Santiago).
• Division 6: Philopateer Shafik and Angel Nava (Westminster)
• Division 7: Ismael Ramirez (La Quinta).
