Firefighters, a police officer and a sheriff’s deputy helped save a woman trapped in her fiery car after a automobile collision Monday morning in Garden Grove.
According to the Orange County Fire Authority, the crash was reported at 5:01 a.m. in the area of Chapman Avenue and Dale Street. Upon arrival, the crew for OCFA Engine 82 found one car involved in flames with a women trapped inside with power lines down.
A Garden Grove police officer and an Orange County sheriff’s deputy used their portable fire extinguishers to keep the fire under control until firefighters arrived.
The blaze was quickly extinguished while the “Jaws of Life” were employed by Truck 85 firefighters to extricate the woman from her vehicle. She was treated by firefighter paramedics and taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle, an adult male, had pulled himself free and was treated at the scene and taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Treatment and transportation was declined by the driver of the second vehicle.
