17 are arrested at ‘slaphouse’

Seventeen people were arrested Thursday at a suspected “slaphouse”  for illegal gambling in Garden Grove, according to police.

The Garden Grove Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit had been conducting an investigation into the use of a house in the 9700 Stanford Ave. block (between Gilbert and Brookhurst streets).With help from other GGPD units, SWAT and the Santa Ana and Seal Beach police departments, the SIU investigators served a search warrant. 

They found eight gambling machines, a loaded AR-style fully automatic rifle, cash and illegal drugs.

Those arrested were charged with a variety of offenses, including gambling, drug possession and/or warrants.
