The man who founded Wikileaks – Julian Assange – has agreed to plead guilty to a federal felony espionage charge in exchange for being free from prison.
The agreement must be accepted by a judge. He will agree that he “unlawfully” obtained classified documents and published them. He claimed to be performing like a journalist with the intent of exposing wrongdoings by the military.
It is all expected to take place in the Mariana Islands, a U.S. commonwealth. Assange has already spent five years in prison Great Britain and several years “hiding out” in the embassy of Ecuador in London.
Assange is admired by many free-speech advocates but his reputation has been clouded by a rape accusation against him in Sweden.
“InfoWars” being shut down by trustee
The “InfoWars” media organization founded by Alex Jones that promoted false conspiracy theories is facing dissolution.
A court trustee announced on Sunday that InfoWars, which peddled untrue “news” such as that the Sandy Hook massacre at an elementary school in Connecticut in 2012 was faked and the victims were “crisis actors,” would be liquidated in order to pay off a $1.5 billion defamation judgment in a case brought by the parents of the 20 children killed in the incident.
Twenty six people died in the incident. Jones has since admitted that his claims were false.
