Angels awe the Athletics

Playing the next-to-last place team in Major League Baseball is one way to build your resume and add to your win column, and that’s just what the Los Angeles Angels did in Oakland Monday night.

The Halos bested the A’s 5-1, led by a strong pitching performance by Griffin Canning (3-8), who went seven innings. He was touched for just five hits and the one run. He struck out five batters and walked one. At bat, Taylor Ward hit a two-run homer, his 13th round-tripper of the season. Zach Neto went 2-for-4 and scored a run.

After the win, the Angels are 31-46 and remain in fourth place in the American League West.
