Santiago High School in Garden Grove will be getting its first multi-story building this fall with the construction of a new modular two-story building .
The new structure will include 24 classrooms with an elevator and restrooms. It will replace the portable structure now on campus and is similar to the modular structure recently installed at the Garden Grove High School campus.
Concrete was poured on Thursday for the campus quad and worked on plastering the elevator and the front of the building. Work was also done on new infrastructure in the school’s kitchen including new heating, ventilation and air conditioning, kitchen equipment and accessible serving lines.
The new classroom building and upgraded kitchen will be ready for the start of the school year on Aug. 12.
SHS is located at 12342 Trask Ave. and is part of the Garden Grove Unified School District, which serves most of Garden Grove and parts of Anaheim, Cypress, Fountain Valley, Santa Ana, Stanton and Westminster.
