THE LOCAL election campaign season started this week (Shutterstock).

The campaign for local offices in our West Orange County in the Nov. 5 election began on Monday as candidates began taking out nomination papers to run for city council and school board seats.

This list is just the beginning; according to city clerk’s offices and the Orange County Registrar of Voters, none of those who have taken out those documents have returned completed forms as of this writing. The deadline to return completed nomination papers is Aug. 9.

The Tribune will update this list periodically.

Garden Grove Unified School District

District 3: Walter Muneton (incumbent); District 5: Dina Nguyen (incumbent).

Garden Grove City Council (mayor and two seats).

Mayor: Phat Bui, John O’Neill, Stephanie Klopfenstein, Diedre Thu-Ha Nguyen, Musaab Mughal. District 2: Philip Nguyen. District 5: Ariana Arestegui, Yesenia Muneton, Douglas Nelson, James Mack.
