Rancho Alamitos opened its 2024 football season with an impressive 40-15 win over Savanna High of Anaheim at Bolsa Stadium on Thursday night.

The Vaquero were led by Cruz Gonzales, who rushed for 250 yards and four scores. Rancho QB Vincente Gentile opened the scoring with a 46-yard touchdown pass to Johnny Zodiacal. Diego Perez threw for two touchdowns for the Rebels.

Rancho will next face Anaheim on Sept. 5. Magnolia (1-1) will host Santiago (0-1) on Sept. 7.

Also on Thursday, Valencia defeated Magnolia 47-0.  The Sentinels  (1-1) will host Santiago (0-1) on Sept. 7.
