Downtown killing investigated

HUNTINGTON BEACH police are investigating a homicide on the downtown area Sunday morning (Shutterstock).

An investigation is underway into a homicide early Sunday morning in the downtown area of Huntington Beach.

According to Jessica Cuchilla, public affairs officer for the HBPD, officers responded to a report at about 2 a.m. of a man suffering from “significant injuries” in the area of Olive Avenue and Main Street.

Police are withholding the nature of the injuries due to the requirements of the investigation.

The Huntington Beach Fire Department responded and provided medical help to the victim who was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

While the identity of the suspect remains outstanding, police  believe the homicide was an isolated incident and there’s no ongoing threat to the public.
