Several “housekeeping” actions were approved by the Stanton City Council when it met on Tuesday night.
The council voted 5-0 to accept as completed the demolition and clearing of the site of a vacant fourplex building at 8930 Pacific Avenue.
According to a city staff report, the building had been damaged by fire and was the center of vandalism and other minor crime in the surrounding area.
The cost of the project was $96,000, paid to Interior Demolition, Inc.
Also on Tuesday night, the council on 5-0 votes:
- approved a license agreement with Southern California Edison for a five-year lease on three parcels of property utilized by the city for Hollenbeck Park, located on the north side of Cerritos Avenue between Magnolia and Dale streets, at a cost of $15,438.43.
- approved the redesign of the city’s official logo, branding and messaging;
- appropriated $250,000 for the repair of the pedestrian bridge at Stanton Park (southeast of Katella Avenue and Beach Boulevard, south of the Civic Center). The bridge has bene damaged and unusable since June 2023. It had been an overpass bridging a flood control channel.
