Top Hezbollah leaders killed

Israeli attacks on a Hezbollah headquarters in Beirut, Lebanon have killed the leader of the organization as well as at least six other commanders.

The death of these seven from the attack on Friday has now been confirmed by a variety of sources. The group leader was Sheik Hassan Nasrallah.

According to the Associated Press, the attacks came as a response to Hezbollah’s rocket attacks into Israel in support of Hamas militants, who opened a new phase of combat in the Middle East in October with raids into Israel.

On Sunday, Israeli jets struck Houthi rebels in Yemen in response to attacks on Israel. Targeted were power plants and seaport facilities in the city of Hodeida.

Kris Kristofferson dead at 88

A singer, songwriter and actor with accomplishments  across those field, Kris Kristofferson, has died at the age of 88 at his home in Maui, Hawaii.

The New York Times reported that no cause of death was immediately given.

He wrote top-charting country music songs such as “For the Good Times” and Sunday Morning Coming Down.” He also composed “Me and Bobby McGee” and “Help Me Make It Through the Night.”

As an actor he appeared in “Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid” as Billy the Kid and opposite Barbara Streisand in “A Star in Born.”

He also appeared in the Oscar-nominated “Lone Star” in which he portrayed a corrupt Texas sheriff.

Weather: A bit warmer

Monday’s forecast calls for a daytime high of 79 with an overnight low of 61. Tuesday will warm to 85 (62).There will be morning fog and afternoon clouds both days. Partly cloudy conditions will set in on Wednesday and Thursday, with highs of 86 (65) and 81 (64).
