A request to hold a study session on a review of city ordinances on homesteading within city limits will be on the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting of the Stanton City Council.

Councilmember Donald Torres is making the request. “Homesteading” refers to California state law that allows a homeowners to declare a portion of his or her property as “homestead” and thereby – mostly – beyond the reach of creditors.

The purpose of homesteading is to protect homeowners from being left homeless in times of economic strife.

Also on the agenda is a discussion on the city’s local preference policies in relationship to ensuring “continued support of local Stanton businesses.”

The council will meet at 6:30 p.m. in City Hall at 7800 Katella Ave.
