SWAT team is summoned in domestic violence incident

A SUSPECT was arrested on domestic violence changes in Westminster (Shutterstock).

The West Orange County SWAT team was called out late Monday night to help Westminster police deal with a domestic violence incident.

According to Officer Norma Vasquez-Phan of the WPD, a Westminster resident, identified as Jeffrey Robert Wilson, 44, was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence, child abuse, being a felon in possession of a firearm and being a prohibited person owning a firearm.

The incident took place in the 5500 block of Garden Grove Boulevard. Police were dispatched at around 11:34 p.m. in response to a report of a domestic violence incident between a husband and wife.

Wilson had allegedly assaulted his wife and perhaps threatened her with a weapon. Police determine that Wilson, his wife and a 12-year-old child were inside the home.

The SWAT team was activated and responded to the scene along with WPD detectives. Wilson then stepped out of the home and cooperated with police, who took him into custody.

A firearm was located at the home and Wilson was booked into Orange County Jail.
