Two weeks after Election Day, a handful of local races remain close and undecided for the West Orange County area.
As of 5 p.m. on Tuesday, in a race that’s captured nationwide attention, Democratic challenger Derek Tran is slowly expanding his narrow lead over incumbent Rep. Michelle Steel, a Republican, in the 45th Congressional District.
Steel has a narrow advantage of almost 4,000 votes in Orange County, according to the county Register of Voters, but the district includes the Cerritos area in Los Angeles County.
With that area’s votes included, Tran is now leading by 155,090 votes to 154,776, a margin of 314 votes.
In another race for a seat in the House of Representatives, Dave Min, a Democrat, leads Republican Scott Baugh by 177,918 to 168,221 in the 47th District. That’s an edge of about 9,700 votes.
In more local races, for the Huntington Beach City School District Area 1, Brian Burley has a 102-vote lead over Cindy Barrios.
In the Garden Grove City Council race for the District 6 position, Ariana Arestegui leads Tri Lam by 190 votes.
