Derek Tran continues to build on his slender lead in the race for the 45th Congressional seat, serving Orange County and Cerritos is Los Angeles County.
The latest count on Friday – as posted by the California Secretary of State’s office – showed Tran, the Democratic challenger, leading the Republican incumbent Michelle Steel by 157,075 (50.1 percent) to 156,556 (49.9 percent).
That’s a margin of 519 votes, up from Thursday’s edge of 480.
It’s not over yet, but the election results must be certified by Dec. 13.
