It’s a sort of “Let’s Make a Deal,” only the price is over $1 million.
On Wednesday the Stanton Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to consider an amended development agreement with a luxury apartment developer struggling to pay the obligatory fees.
At issue is the Cloud House, a five-story complex located at 12331-12345 Beach Boulevard, just north of Lampson Avenue.
Citing the “financial burden due to the global pandemic and its lingering effects” the developer – Stanton 2.0 LLC – is asking for some relief from the original schedule of payments.
The original agreement called for the developer to pay the city $963,000 in community facilities fees, $50,000 in beautification/enhancement fees and $336,729 in development impact fees, totaling $1,349,729, not including staff and legal costs.
Proposed is an alternative total of $1,419,463.56 to be paid within five years of the city issuing the final certificate of occupancy, which is estimated to be March 2030.
The project has been constructed on the former site of a mobile home dealership. The term “cloud house” comes from the location of some amenities – including a pool – on the rooftop.
The planning commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Stanton City Hall, 7800 Katella Ave.
