A proposal to build a 26-unit, two-story townhouse project on land partially used as the parking lot of a church in West Garden Grove was approved Thursday night by the Garden Grove Planning Commission.
The vote was 7-0.
Brandywine Homes requested approval of a site plan, variance, general plan amendments and and other permissions for the proposed project at 5802 Santa Catalina Avenue between Valley View Street and St. Mark Street.
The existing 3.025-acre lot, now occupied by Grace Baptist Church, would be subdivided into two lots, one for the townhomes and the remainder for the church.
Restriping of parking lanes in the portion used by the church should meet current parking requirements, according to a staff report.
Also approved were:
• a conditional use permit for a new 18,183-square foot adult day care facility for 463 adults at 11074-11076 Magnolia Street (south of Katella Ave);
• a variance and site plan for the construction of a second single family home on a lot with an existing house at 12013 Lorna St. (at Chapman Avenue).
