There’s a new law coming to Stanton, a “social host” ordinance which makes the property owner legally responsible for fines and other punishments for igniting unlawful pyrotechnics, whether it be on the Fourth of July or any other time.

The council approved the ordinance 5-0 at its meeting on Tuesday.

Also on Tuesday, the council approved on a 5-0 vote an ordinance regulating the sale of nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”) in the city. The gas is often used in dental procedures but can also be used an an intoxicant.

Additionally, the city council also voted 5-0 to adopt a 3.41 percent raise in the master fee schedule for city programs and services.
