The “uptown” area of Garden Grove in the Chapman-Brookhurst shopping area may be going “up” with the construction of a proposed four-story, 36-unit apartment complex.
As proposed, the Chapman Apartments would be located across from The Promenade shopping center and west of the Pavilion Plaza and Pavilion Plaza West retail centers between Brookhurst and Gilbert Street.
If approved by the Garden Grove Planning Commission at its June 5 meeting, the development would be among the tallest apartment complexes in the city, and among the tallest buildings in “uptown.”
The complex, located on an 0.82-acre lot at 9562 Chapman Avenue, would include four “very low-income” affordable housing units which grant a density bonus.
Also on the agenda for the meeting is a request for a site plan approval for the construction of a new 50,300-square foot shell industrial building at 7441 Lincoln Way (at Western Avenue) in West Garden Grove.
The planning commission will meet in the Community Meeting Center, 11300 Stanford Ave. at 7 p.m.
