It seemed like a rematch of the World Series, the New York Yankees came to the West Coast to test themselves against the champion Los Angeles Dodgers.

There were fireworks aplenty at Dodger Stadium and the home team won the first game of the three-game series by 8-5 before 53,276 fans in Chavez Ravine.

The Bronx Bombers jumped out to a 5-2 lead, but the home team rallied with four runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 6-5 lead, that included Shohei Ohtani’s second home run of the game of the night. He now has 22.

LA added two more runs in the seventh for an 8-5 edge.

Andy Page drove in three runs and Fredde Freeman had two doubles and a single.

Mike Trout is back and maybe so are the Los Angeles Angels.

On Friday night in Cleveland, the Halos saw the return of their superstar and an end to their five-game losing streak in defeating the Guardians 4-1 at Progressive Field.

Trout had a single in five at-bats, but the hitting star was right fielder Jorge Soler, who homered in the ninth inning and drove in another run with a single.

Jo Adell singled three times and the Orange County team totaled 13 hits.

Jose Soriano (4-5) pitched six shutout innings for the Angels.

With the win, the team is 26-30, still fourth in the American League West, one game back of the third place Texas Rangers
