A plan by Israel to assasinate Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was vetoed by President Donald Trump, the Associated Press is reporting.
The AP says that Israel had a “credible plan” to kill Khamenei, but the White House said no. The Trump Administration is believed to be concerned that the crisis between Iran and Israel could widen into a larger war.
In a TV interview, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “I think that we do what we need to do, we’ll do what we need to do.”
Meanwhile, Israel and Iran continued to exchange missile and drone fire for the third straight day.
Search continues for suspect
Police and other law enforcement agencies are searching for the man they believe shot four people and killing two lawmakers in Minnesota.
The New York Times says that the suspect is Vance Boelter, 57, and he remains at large.
Found Sunday was a car and hat believed to belong to Boelter in Sibley County, where Boelter has a home.
Law enforcement officials have concluded that he pretended to be police officer on Saturday when he killed Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, as well as shot State Senator John Hoffman and his wife.
Sports: Dodgers battle, Angels swept
While the Los Angeles Dodgers battled to defeat the San Francisco Giants and extend its lead in the National League West, the Los Angeles Angels have followed a three-game sweep of the A’s with a three-day skid against the Baltimore Orioles.
A three-run fifth inning was enough to push the Blue Crew past the visiting Giants. That included a three-run blast by Andy Pages, his 13th homer of the season. Shohei Ohtani shook off a bit of slump by batting 3-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.
Dustin May (4-4) lasted six innings, giving up six hits and three runs. He walked four and struck out three as the Dodgers improved to 43-20, two games ahead of the Giants (41-31).
The Angels got a first inning home run by Nolan Schanuel (his fourth) for a brief lead in Camden Yards, but it was all Orioles after that. Yoshi Kikuchi (2-6) impressed with 10 strikeouts but gave up seven hits and five runs – two of the them unearned.
With the loss, the Angels remain in fourth in the American League West at 33-37.
