Las Vegas man charged with trafficking of a teen girl

A LAS VEGAS man has been charged with trafficking a teenage girl (Shutterstock).

A 46-year-old Las Vegas man arrested in Stanton by Anaheim detectives was charged Thursday by the Orange County District Attorney’s office with multiple human trafficking crimes.

According to the Anaheim Police Department, Donald Newton was taken into custody after police rescued a 16-year-old girl that Newton was allegedly holding captive with a gun.

On May 30, APD officers were notified that a girl was being held against her will in a motel in the 700 block of South Beach Blvd. in Anaheim.. Patrol officers found her and took her to safety.

About two hours later, Newtown was arrested. Using a search warrant police recovered a loaded firearm.

He now faces charges of pimping a minor over 16 years old; pandering a minor over 16 years old; human trafficking of a minor; possession of a firearm by a felon; possession of ammunition by a prohibited person and three counts of personal use of a firearm in a felony.

He’s being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.
