
A 44-YEAR-OLD Santa Ana man was fatally injured when struck by a car early Tuesday morning (Shutterstock).
A collision between a pedestrian and an automobile took the life of a 44-year-old man in Santa Ana early Tuesday morning.
According to the SAPD, the incident took place near the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and 5th Street. The accident was reported at around 1:23 a.m.
The pedestrian was identified as Jose Roberto Lugo-Benitez, a Santa Ana resident. He was unresponsive as SAPD officers and Orange County Fire Authority personnel arrived, and was declared deceased at the scene by OCFA paramedics.
The preliminary investigation indicated that Lugo-Benitez was walking westbound through traffic lanes on Harbor Boulevard when struck by a vehicle traveling southbound. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
