The two children killed in a shooting at a Catholic church in Minneapolis have been identified.
According to The New York Times, they are Fletcher Alexander Merkel, 8, and Harper Lillian Moyski, 10.
According to New York Times, the children were at an all-school Mass at the Anunciation Catholic Church on Wednesday.
Eighteen others, including 15 children were injured. The gunman, Robin Westman,23, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The shooter fired 120 rounds into the church, say Minneapolis police.
A motive or “triggering event” has not been identified.
The mystery of high detention complex
The Associated Press is reporting that a $1.2 billion contract to build a huge immigration detention complex has been awarded to a company – Acquisitions Logistics LLC – with no experience in building such a project, has no functioning website and its business address is at a single-family home in surburban Virginia with the listed owner a 77-year-old retired Navy officer.
No one answered the door at the two-story building.
The facility was chosen over a dozen competitors and the Defense Department has refused to release the contract or the basis for the selection.
The facility will start with 1,000 beds with expansion available to 5,000 beds. It’s on the grounds of Fort Bliss in Texas
Sports: Travel day for the locals
Both the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels had a day off to travel.
On Friday, the Dodgers (first place in the National League West) will be home to host the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Angels, last in the American League Wes,t will be in Houston to take on the first place Astros.
