Three persons were arrested after a freeway chase that involved multiple law enforcement agencies, two helicopters and a trip to the Huntington Beach city jail.

According to the HBPD, the incident began around 10:30 p.m. on Monday night in response to a report of a stolen vehicle. An officer spotted the stolen car on Brookhurst Street traveling in tandem with another vehicle.

The city’s police helicopter – HB1 – was summoned and guided officers on the ground as they staged their pursuit near the San Diego (405) Freeway. As the two suspect vehicles entered the freeway – and with backup for Anaheim’s Angel helicopter and police units from Westminster and the California Highway Patrol – tracked them on the 405.

HB1 “kept eyes” on the stolen vehicle while Angel followed the second car. Both cars were safely stopped at separate locations and suspects from both were taken in to custody.

According to HBPD, arrested on a variety of charges were Ricky Torres, 30, of Lynwood; Jesus Diego Lopez, 27, of Compton; and Victor Jacob Gomez, 19, of South Gate.
