‘Kolby Aipa Day’ is proposed

The establishment of each Sept. 18 as “Kolby Aipa Day” in Huntington Beach will be considered by the Huntington Beach City Council when it meets on Tuesday.

Aipa, 20, a prominent surfer and a graduate of Huntington Beach High School, suffered fatal injuries on Saturday, August 5 around 10:18 p.m. when the e-bike he was riding on Pacific Coast Highway was being towed by friends and the two collided.

The accident took place near the intersection of PCH and Seapoint Street.

He was the grandson of Hawaiian surfboard shaper, Ben Aipa.

The council will meet at 6 p.m. in its chambers, 2000 Main St.
