The 39th annual “Call to Duty” Memorial to honor the men of the Garden Grove Police Department who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the community will be held on May 14 at 11301 Acacia Parkway from 5-6 p.m.

Since its establishment in the mid-50s, the GGPD has seen six officers lose their lives in the course of duty. They are Sgt. Myron Trapp, Officer Andy Reese, Officer Donald Reed, Officer Michael Rainford, Master Officer Howard Dallies Jr., and Lt. John Reynolds.

According to the GGPD, this year’s event holds a special meaning because it will be the final ceremony in front of the current police facility as a new, much larger facility is under construction and will be ready for occupancy later in 2026.

The new police building is three stories high with an adjacent parking structure at Euclid Street and Acacia Parkway.
