A BICYCLIST was killed in a crash in Santa Ana (Shutterstock).

The latest in a series of fatal bicycle accidents in Orange County involved a cyclist in Santa Ana on Sunday.

According to the SAPD, the collision took place at Fairview and 12th streets. Police responded to calls of a motor vehicle vs. a bicyclist at around 12:09 p.m. The cyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene by Orange County Fire Authority personnel.

The preliminary investigation indicated that was bicyclist was crossing Fairview – not in a crosswalk – and was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Fairview. The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Impairment doesn’t appear to be a factor in the collision.
